Ja Rule in der Diskussion

Die GLAAD, die Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, also die Gesellschaft, die sich dem Engagement für schwul/lesbische Themen und gegen Diskriminierung verschrieben hat, verlangt die Verbannung von Ja Rule aus den Medien. Ja Rule hatte sich in einem Interview mit dem Magazin Complex folgendermaßen geäußert:

“Lets talk about all these fucking shows that they have on MTV that is promoting homosexuality, that my kids can’t watch this shit. Dating shows that’s showing two guys or two girls in mid afternoon. Let’s talk about shit like that! If that’s not fucking up America, I don’t know what is.”

Die GLAAD reagierte darauf mit folgender Pressemitteilung:

“No fair-minded person can look at Ja Rule’s interview with Complex Magazine and believe for one second that his children could be more harmed by what they might see on television than by the vulgarity and prejudice that comes out of their father’s mouth. Now that media have seen JaRule’s intolerance unmasked by his own words, they have a responsibility not to provide in the future a platform for his ugly, vulgar displays of prejudice.”

Homosexuellen feindliche Aussagen von Rappern sind ja auch hierzulande nichts Neues und die dadurch angeregte Diskussion, das kritischere Beleuchten von Texten und Aussagen schadet sicherlich auch Amerika nicht.

Eigentlich sollte es in dem Interview vor allem um Ja Rules neues Album "The Mirrror" gehen. Als Gäste sind bisher The Game und Lil‘ Wayne bestätigt, mehr Details sind noch nicht bekannt.
