Das amerikanische HipHop-Magazin "The Source" hat den schwarzen Unterhaltungskanal "BET" auf 100 Million Dollar verklagt. Grund dafür ist die, nach mehrmaligen Terminverschiebungen, Streichung der "Source Awards" aus dem Programm von BET. Obwohl vetraglich vereinbart, kam es am 25.Oktober nicht zur Ausstrahlung der Awards. Source- Mitgründer Dave Mays dazu:
"We had a contract With BET to televise the Source Awards on Oct. 25.They kept moving the date back and then ultimately took a position that they didn’t want to put it on this year. They have a very clear contract to televise the awards and we were put in a position to file our lawsuit."
Source-Chef Ray Benzino glaubt, dass es sich um einen Interessenkonflikt mit den Sendereigenen "BET Awards" handelt:
"We had the sixth most viewed show in the 25 years that BET has been on the air.They just did an awards show. Last year’s show was a success and now the next year they don’t want to do it?"
Noch gibt es keine offizielle Stellungnahme des Senders, man darf jedoch auf den Ausgang gespannt sein.
