Wie wir vor kurzem berichteten, sollen Dave Mays und Ray "Benzino" Scott, die Gründer des
"The Source"-Magazins, zusammen mit Mimi Valdes, der ehemaligen Chefredakteurin des "Vibe"-Magazins ein neues HipHop-Lifestyle-Magazin aus der Taufe gehoben haben. Nun hat sich die Information bestätigt und die für diesen Herbst angekündigte erste Ausgabe erscheint am 16. Oktober. Nur der Name lautet nicht, wie vorläufig betitelt, "The Truth", sondern ganz profan "Hip Hop Weekly". Das Magazin berichtet dann in Zukunft über das aktuelle Geschehen in der HipHop-Szene, sowie über Filme, TV, Fashion und Sport. Mays selbst sagte über das nun wöchentlich erscheinende Blatt:
"I am extremely proud to be breaking new ground with the launch of Hip Hop Weekly. Hip-Hop culture and its celebrities are making news every day, so there is a need for a magazine that can keep up with the much faster pace of news and information flow in the multimedia, Internet-driven world that we are living in today. Hip Hop Weekly’s innovative format coincides with the evolving nature of advertising, which is rapidly moving toward a quicker, constantly changing, and more creative approach."
