Nun also doch: Dr. Dre wird sein langerwartetes drittes Soloalbum nicht „Detox„, sondern „Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre“ nennen. Es wird am 7. August, also nächsten Freitag erscheinen. Cover und Tracklist sind bereits online.
Als Featuregäste sind u.a. Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar und Eminem dabei. Dre selbst bezeichnet das Album in einem Facebook-Post als sein „großes Finale„. Es soll vom N.W.A.-Film „Straight Outta Compton“ inspiriert sein, der am 27. August in Deutschland startet, ist aber nicht der offizielle Soundtrack.
Dr. Dre hatte nach dem Aus seiner legendären Crew N.W.A. 1992 sein erstes Soloalbum „The Chronic“ veröffentlicht und damit einen der herausragendsten G-Funk-Klassiker geschaffen. 1999 folgte „2001„. Jahrelang war das dritte Album unter dem Namen „Detox“ angekündigt gewesen, zuletzt hatte aber eigentlich niemand mehr ernsthaft an eine Veröffentlichung geglaubt.
