Der HipHop-Veteren Masta Ace hat nach 16 Jahren Rap-Business seinen Rücktritt angekündigt. Mit seinem fünften und demnach auch letztem Album "Long Hot Summer", erscheint am 02.08.2004, beendet Masta Ace seine beeindruckende Karriere und hängt das Mic für immer an den Nagel. Das folgende Zitat macht deutlich, dass Masta Ace sich diesen Zeitpunkt ganz bewusst ausgewählt hat und er sich voll und ganz auf sein neugegründetes Label M3 konzentrieren möchte.

"Before I even finished recording this record, I kinda had it in my mind, that this’d be the last one for me. It had nothing to do with [sales], it’s just time for me to apply myself behind the scenes and we have this new label, M3. I want to get it off the ground, and I can’t really do that if I’m running around touring and recording and being an artist doing interviews. Now it gets to the point where I can get behind the scenes are really get this engine going."
Im Gegensatz zu anderen MCs, wie z.B. Jay-Z oder Master P., die mal eben zurücktreten und nach kurzer Zeit wieder ins Rap-Business einsteigen, macht Masta Ace keinen Rückzieher. "Once I’m done, I’m done." Mit diesen Worten drückt er deutlich aus, dass eine Rückkehr für ihn ausgeschlossen ist.
