Budden nahm kurz nach den Ereignissen Stellung in seinem Blog und stellte klar, dass es sich bei dem Schlag um einen "Sucker Punch“ gehandelt habe.
"It was such a sucker punch," erklärte der unverwundbare Budden. "Rae didn’t punch me. For the people just joining us that would like to know what happened…I’m trying to figure out how this could happen…Just need to let niggas know, that I’m all right. I know how the Internet is. It moves 20 times faster than real life…It’s gonna look like some other crazy shit that didn’t take place, I must really love you guys“
Auch erklärte er, wie sich die Geschichte ereignet haben soll:
"Them niggas came in here like Storm Troopers and shit. They made a grand entrance…They asked me a whole bunch of questions that they didn’t want to know the answers to…it was like an interview gone wrong. My whole thing is, I would have had the most utmost respect for that nigga if he would have been like, ‚Eh, take a walk with me.‘ I just don’t really know how these guys think they can do a show right after. How you gonna perform after that?“
Erstaunlicherweise stellte er aber auch klar, dass auf den Schlag kein Schlagabtausch folgen soll: "Now it’s not Slaughterhouse versus Wu-Tang, it’s definitely not that. It takes that leverage away. I’m definitely sexy still."
Raekwon selber äußerste sich nicht zu den aktuellen Vorkommnissen, seinem Unmut über Budden hatte er aber schon vorher kundgetan: "I don’t like Joe Buddens," sagte das Wu Tang-Mitglied. "First and foremost, I never knew him and I ain’t really trying to make this no campaign, like ‚cause he know he can’t fuck with me but I’m just saying that at the end of the day I feel like he was wrong as a man before anything because number one, if you saying you got love for a nigga, you don’t assassinate the nigga."
Wir bleiben gespannt, ob Budden Wort hält oder ob nun nach Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Def Jam, Saigon, Ransom und Eko Fresh auch Raekwon seinen Platz in der "Von Joe Budden gedisst“-Rubrik findet.
